Extramural Activities

EXTRA-MURAL ACTIVITIES

The school offers a wide variety of extra-mural activities. Learners are expected to take part in at least one activity per term. A learner who has joined an extra-mural activity is obliged to attend the practices as detailed or to provide the staff member with a valid excuse in good time. Once committed, he/she is also obliged to see the season/term through. PE and computers are compulsory and form part of the curriculum of our school from grade RR to grade seven respectively.

All dates and times will be advised at the beginning of the term.  The following activities are presented by private coaches or tutors at private rates over and above school fees:

Little Lab Coats

All extra-murals depend on the availability of coaches and sufficient interest from the children.

All payments for extra-mural activities must be paid directly to the appropriate coach and NOT into the school’s account.

We also offer Netball, athletics, choir,  soccer, and cross country running.  These activities are either practiced at the Korfball courts in Klip Street, or at Elturion’s own property depending on the specific need of the particular sport.

OUTINGS

Outings are organized on a regular basis through the course of the year.  The cost of these outings is not included in the school fees.  Parents are requested to budget R600 per year per child for this.

A packed lunch in a disposable wrapper is usually required for these outings.  No yoghurt is allowed on outings.  Children must please wear their school uniform. For safety reasons the children are transported by rented busses or if available the school’s own bus to outing destinations.

Should parents know of interesting events, festivals or places which would interest the children, please inform the office.

As from Grd 4 the children are taken on an educational tour/camp relevant to their age and curriculum.  This tour is not an optional extra but rather forms part of the school curriculum and all children are required to attend.  Information about the tour/camp of the year is made available to parents at the info evening scheduled in January of each new year.  Due to the cost of this tour/camp parents are expected to make payments from the end of February.  A break down is provided at the info evening.
